Kate Beckinsale's Daughter Has Two Dads
|
Kate Beckinsale has a "family with two dads." The actress, who is married to director Len Wiseman, says her nine-year-old daughter Lily - her child with former boyfriend Michael Sheen - is comfortable with their unconventional arrangements and describes it as "a modern dream come true."
She explained: "We're a family with two dads. Somehow it all works out. Lily walks around the house going, 'Daddy!' and several people say, 'Yes?' It's kind of funny. 'No, not you, the other one!'"
Kate, who split from actor Michael in 2003, also revealed her daughter doesn't feel as though her parents are separated - because she remains so close to the "Frost/Nixon" star.
Kate, 35, added to Self magazine: "Last week, Lily was talking about a friend whose parents are divorced, saying, 'Oh it's so sad!' And I said 'Do you never feel like you're from divorced parents? Because you are, even though Michael and I weren't technically married.' And she goes, 'No! Divorced parents wait in the car outside and everyone is mean to each other, and it's not like that with us."
"Michael had a huge beard recently and I decided it would be fun if Lily got to shave it off. So we got Len's clippers and shaved Michael. I'm sure that's why Lily doesn't feel like she has split parents. Your stepfather helping to shave your dad isn't something that necessarily happens in every household."

Kate Beckinsale Heading To The Antarctica For Her Latest Film "Whiteout"
|
Kate Beckinsale is heading to the Antarctic for her latest film role. The British actress will appear as no-nonsense U.S. Marshal Carrie Stetko in chilly thriller "Whiteout," which sees Kate's character on the trail of a killer at a South Pole research center.
A movie insider said: "Fans will see Kate play a real action hero, some of the stunts are breathtaking. The movie is going to be thrill-a-minute."
The film, directed by Dominic Sena, is an adaptation of the 1998 comic book series by Greg Rucka and artist Steve Lieber. Although the movie is set in the Antarctic, conditions were too cold to shoot on location so filming took place in Canada. "Whiteout" is set to be released in September 2009.
Meanwhile, Beckinsale has claimed she didn't need prosthetic make-up to look "old and haggard" for upcoming movie "Nothing But the Truth."
The 35-year-old actress donned fake eyebags to show how tired her character was at the beginning of shooting, but began filming her scenes without them once her hectic schedule took its toll.
Kate, who plays a reporter trying to reveal the truth about a CIA agent, is quoted as saying: "I had some eye bags and slightly yellowy skin put on my make up for the prison scenes. But by the end of the movie I think I had it naturally!"

"Whiteout" Blows in September '09
|
Dominic Sena's big screen version of the graphic novel Whiteout finally has a release date, but you all are going to have to wait quite a while to see it.
Warner Brothers announced today the theatrical release date of the Kate Beckinsale thriller is September 11, 2009. That day may be a little better than waiting until winter, but still ... 9/11?
Whiteout follows a U.S. Marshall tracking down a mysterious murderer across Antarctica as time and sunlight are running out.

No more "Underworld" flick for Kate Beckinsale?
|
It’s not that surprising, but actress Kate Beckinsale doubts she’ll ever return as Selene for another “Underworld” sequel.
Although Beckinsale starred in the first two films of the franchise, she won’t appear in the upcoming prequel “Underworld: Rise of the Lycans,” which is set for release Jan. 23, 2009.
In a recent interview with ComingSoon, she said she’s not sure whether to do another film: "I feel like I've played that character enough times that I don't think I'd be excited to play the same character again. It's a weird experience.”
To be honest, I didn’t expect her to return anyway. I enjoyed the first “Underworld” and hated the second, and I wouldn’t want her to return to something that lost its originality after the first flick.
If you can’t wait to see Beckinsale back on the big screen, watch out for Rod Lurie’s upcoming “Nothing But the Truth,” which opens later this year. She’ll also topline Dominic Sena’s next action thriller “Whiteout.”
